  5. Installation of miro drivers for Windows95:
  6. ===========================================
  7.  
  8. Attention: Please don't try to install the miro drivers by running the
  9.            install.exe program. Use the 'change display properties' from
  10.            your control panel.
  11.  
  12. This miro Windows 95 drivers are useable for the following miro graphic 
  13. adapters in a single screen solution only:
  14.  
  15.      miroCRYSTAL 12SD       
  16.      miroCRYSTAL 20SD 
  17.      miroCRYSTAL 22SD
  18.      miroCRYSTAL 20SV
  19.      miroCRYSTAL 40SV
  20.      miroMAGIC 20/40 ergo
  21.      miroVIDEO 20SD
  22.      miroVIDEO 20SV
  23.      miroVIDEO 40SV ergo
  24.  
  25. Generally dual screen solutions (Twinface) or combinations of miro
  26. graphics boards by itself or in combinations with third partie graphics
  27. boards won't be supported !!!

  30. To install the miro drivers, proceed as follows:
  31.  
  32. * If you have not done so already, start your computer
  33. * Open the Control Panel
  34. * Click on Display
  35. * Click the Settings folder
  36. * Select Change Display Type... .The Change Display Type windows appears.
  37.   Here you can change the graphics board and the monitor type.
  38. * To select another graphics board, click on the "Change" button.
  39. * Click "Have Disk..." To specify the disk drive from which you install 
  40.   the drivers: default is drive a:\.
  41.   Now there will be displayed the following model either
  42.   "miro S3 Graphicadapter/PCI", or  "miro S3 Graphicadapter/VLB".
  43.   In case both options will be displayed, please select the model which 
  44.   is corresponding to your miro graphics adapter and click "apply". 
  45.   The computer is restarted. After the restart the new resolutions are 
  46.   available.

  49. Important hints for the installation:
  50. =====================================
  51.  
  52. 1.) Don't try to use former miro Windows 3.xx drivers for Windows 95.
  53.     In case you tried to use these drivers make sure that all former 
  54.     miro Windows 3.xx drivers and entries in your SYSTEM.INI file are removed. 
  55.  
  56.     In the SYSTEM.INI you have to remove the complete entries in the section
  57.     [928.drv], [Twin.right] and [Twin.left]. Delete in your Win95 the follo-
  58.     wing files if available:

  112.     Delete the miroWINTOOL group and the includes icons 
  113.     on your Windows95 desktop too !!!

  115. 2.) In case you are using a miro monitor or a common model please install
  116.     a new monitor file. This monitor.inf file is on this installation disk. 
  117.     Make sure that there is no older OEM*.INF monitor file in your Win95\INF
  118.     subdirectory. This subdirectory is hidden, but you  can make it visible
  119.     by entering the DIR /a command. All INF files are ASCII files and you
  120.     can read these files with every editor, so please make sure that you
  121.     don't delete needed INF files. Look into the file before you delete it !!!
  122.     If you are using the miro monitor files of the original Windows 95 CD,
  123.     please use the miro monitor file of this disk.

  125. 3.) Everytime you install new display drivers in Windows 95 a new OEM*.INF 
  126.     file will be copied into your WIN95\INF subdirectory. Windows 95 doesn't 
  127.     remove the old *.inf files. Make sure that only the specified OEM*.INF
  128.     file is available. This could prevent many problems!

  130. 4.) Remember that all miroVIDEO graphics boards (VIDEO 20SD, VIDEO 20SV,
  131.     VIDEO 40SV ergo) need an IRQ
  132.  
  133. 5.) In case Windows 95 doesn't start VLB computers, you can change the base-
  134.     address for the linear memory adressing:
  135.  
  136.         System.ini:
  137.         [Display]
  138.         LinBase=<Addresse>
  139.  
  140.         i.e. 40320, 60000, or 104858
  141.  
  142. 6.) For miroVIDEO graphics boards (VIDEO 20SD, VIDEO 20SV, VIDEO 40SV ergo)
  143.     you can switch the hardware scaler off or improved.

  157.     The Value can be calculated as follows:
  158.       [0 / 1]   for DIB scaling by hardware            [off / on]
  159.     + [0 / 2]   for DIB interpolation by hardware      [off / on]
  160.     + [0 / 4]   for DIB scaling parameteradaption      [off / on]
  161.     + [0 / 256] for DDB scaling by hardware            [off / on]
  162.     + [0 / 512] for DDB interpolation by hardware      [off / on]

  164. 7.) A DIB-engine driver is not usable for Video for Windows, but the
  165.     optimized drivers can be fully used, if the Pinboard will set the 
  166.     entries depending on the selected display mode in the Win.ini file.
  167.  
  168.     ->If possible start the Pinboard always starting Windows 95. The Pinboard
  169.       will correct the entries of Video for Windows automaticly.

  172. 8.) Using the miro Pinboard it could happen that, the switching from the
  173.     virtual modes into the real modes doesn't work at once. In this case we
  174.     recommend to switch first into the real mode resolution (640 x 480) and
  175.     after this into a higher resolution.

  178. 9.) For the miroCRYSTAL 20SV the highest resolution of 1408 x 1024 in 8 bit
  179.     is in Windows 95 at this time not available. This resolution will be
  180.     available with the next driver update. t couls happen that a resolution
  181.     will be offered in the Controlpanel, but you can't switch to this reso-
  182.     lution. This means Windows 95 will fall back to the earlier resolution.

  184. 10.) During the installation of a miroVIDEO 20SD in Windows 95 it could happen
  185.     that both busadapter versions will be displayed. Make sure that you select
  186.     the right businterface, that means either PCI, or VLB, depending of the
  187.     businterface of your miro graphics board. Otherwise the miro graphics
  188.     board can't be installed for Windows 95 and the drivers doen't work.
